The C - 53
  is a 1,000 tons.   Mexican minesweeper that stands 40 ft. tall and
boats 3 decks, with a beam of 33 ft. and 184 ft. long.
The ship was sunk on a sandy area by   Chankanaab Reef at 80 ft.
Huge holes were cut on its sides and interior walls to allow divers in and out
as safely as possible.
The C - 53 originally called "Scuffle" was built in Tampa, Florida.
After several years of service, it was deactivated and put in until 1962, when
it was acquired by the Mexican Navy who named it Felipe Xicoténcatl.
It served our Country in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea for several
purposes.
The ship was terminated from active duty in June 1999 and sunk one year later
as an artificial reef.
